Hello folks, I discovered my first pointing lab in 1978. My dad got a 2 year old yellow lab from a friend that was moving to Las Vegas and couldn't take dog. I was a Forester/Wildlife Biologist in North Dakota and could offer a great home for the dog. The puppy came from England as a gift to the original owner from a large distillery (Gordon's?). Being a hunter, I noticed that the dog not only had a great nose but pointed. What a great hunter and friend he turned out to be. He had a beautiful head and was light of build. When he passed away in 1991 I decided to go to England and search for another Lab. Almost unbelievable, I purchased a 7 weeks old male and the first hunting season at 8 months he also was a natural pointer. In England, they normally use Springer Spaniels for field dogs. The people I bought the dog from didn't know that their puppies would point. Sorry to report that three years ago he died at age eight. I sure would like to get another pointing lab, but as you know when you had two great dogs you are concerned that the next will fall short of you past great friends. I hope to maybe go to England this year and search for another great friend.

Hello Because of a change in lifestyle I have a pointing lab I need to sell. He is 5 or 6 years old, I never registered him. I got him from Black Forrest Kennels. If I remember right his mom was Dixie and father was Jumbo his name is Beaux-Jo. I can confirm all info for anyone interested. He is a big neutered dog and awesome hunter will point all birds that sit. Minds prefect and is really mellow. No bad habits. And loves kids. I only want $750.00 for him. Please let me know if you are interested. Thank You Patrick Leto

My dad owned full Choke of Chub lake and he was considered the first "pointing lab." There is actually no such thing as a pointing lab. I have trained and trained with many different types of dogs and witnessed pointing in all breeds. It all has to deal with evolution. If a wolf didn't have the abitliy to point and sneak up on game to eat then it would starve to death. So in turn all dog breeds have the instinct to point. So, saying you have a "pointing lab" is irrelevant to the breed.

Back in the 70's I had a female lab "Sheba" that would hold a point on pheasants for up to 10 seconds. She was a terrific hunter and a great family dog (she loved kids and she never barked). In July I would like to purchase a female lab like Sheba. If you have one please e-mail me. I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

I enjoyed viewing this web sit. It is very interesting. I have been a Boxer owner for many years and have just acquired a lab. The people I got her from said she was a Spanish Lab. I have never heard of one before. She is brindle in color. And is a natural pointer. I do not know if she was trained, but she is great at hunting squirrels. I did not realize that this was a natural instinct for the dog. If there is a Spanish Lab, can you give me info on where I can get more information about them? Thank you.

I am very interested in the PL's My friends and I have always owned tons of Labs. My lab was a better upland dog than water dog but great at both. I am presently waiting on a 5wk old pointer. I have thought about getting another lab. One of these would be a great copanion to my pointer. I will look forward to any updates on breeders. This time I do want a white lab so this will probably narrow my chances of getting one.

I have added a link from my site to yours. Hope you will visit and sign my guestbook. You may view my gun-dog paintings under "PAGES"-GUNDOGS. Your site brings back many happy memories of the years I spent on my pheasant farm, guiding with my yellow lab. A lot of my paintings depict those happy days. I hope you enjoy your visit.
